PROJECTS
Laurie Plant was born in Swindon in 1974. He currently works from a studio in Cirencester, Gloucestershire and lives in the Cotswolds with his family, his wife Andrea and their six year old son Finlay.
Other interests include Italian language, vinyasa yoga, swimming and travel. In 2015 he and his wife travelled around eight countries in Asia, drawing, painting and writing, with commissions in Hong Kong and Burma and teaching art in Cambodia.
“Last week I was working as a visiting Artist in Kingsdown School and last month at Dorcan Academy School (both in Swindon). Current commissions include artwork for private clients: A piece about the city of Bristol and another about St. Hilda’s College Oxford. Also a large 5ft canvas about ‘The Windfall Yachts’ and for somebody else a portrait drawing. Architectural artwork for Conisbee Associates Islington and, currently the initial stages with Gel Studios, Swindon.”
Education and Training includes:
Masters Degree in Art and Art History from the University of Wales (AHRB grant funded).
1st Class Honours Degree from Lancaster University.
Foundation Degree from Cheltenham University.
“People have always asked me to help out and get involved with projects and I love the variety of teaching and developing artwork at all sorts of different levels. Some examples of this over the years are:

I have held long term teaching posts with the Universities of Bath and Wales, CLL and Cirencester College, FE.

A three month residency at Wycliffe College including teaching as a visiting artist and executing a 40ft square interior mural on site.

Working with the Bingham Library Trust Committee on a two year commission to make an artwork about Cirencester for their Civic Collection.

Collaborating with Christ Church Swindon for six months to make an artwork for their new Community Centre.

Publishing the ‘Iconic Cities’ series of work with Senecio Editions publishing.

Individual private tuition with many people, including art therapy work.

Education Team work over the last twenty years with The Quenington Sculpture Trust and ‘Fresh Air Sculpture’.

Commissioned work for The Kings Head Hotel, 46 pieces of artwork throughout over a two year period of refurb.
